About cryotherapy
Whole body cryotherapy is a short, intense exposure to very cold, dry air. You step into our cryotherapy chamber for two to three minutes at around minus 90°C, wearing shorts, a top for women, and the thermal gloves, slippers, headband and footwear we provide. The cold is dry and intense, but most people find it manageable, and a member of staff monitors you throughout.
The brief cold exposure prompts a strong circulatory response: blood vessels narrow and then widen as you warm up, and the body releases endorphins. Many clients use cryotherapy to support recovery from training, to ease the feeling of muscle soreness and stiffness, and simply because they enjoy the boost in energy and mood afterwards. It is popular with athletes and with people who have never set foot in a gym.
We also offer two targeted treatments. The CryoFacial directs cooled air over the face to lower the skin temperature, which many clients find refreshing and calming for the skin. Localised cryotherapy applies high-velocity cold air to a specific area such as a knee, ankle or shoulder for a longer period.
Cryotherapy can be booked as a single session, as a course of five or ten, or on a monthly membership. Most people find one or two sessions a week suits general wellbeing, with more frequent use around training or specific goals. All cryotherapy course blocks must be used within three months. The recovery suite is open to anyone aged 16 and over, and we will check your medical history before your first session.
