PRP Therapy (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

The so-called Vampire Facial has been made famous in recent years by Kim Kardashian and involves the use of PRP therapy, or Platelet Rich Plasma therapy. This is a treatment that offers an alternative to traditional, more expensive and more invasive treatments that involve more downtime.

As PRP contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors and stem cells it is used to stimulate elastin and collagen in the skin.

How it works

The treatment begins with our practitioner taking blood from the vein and then passing it through a centrifuge to separate the Platelet Rich Plasma from red blood cells. PRP is produced from a person's own blood. It is a concentration of one type of cell, known as platelets, which circulate through the blood and are critical for blood clotting. Platelets and the liquid plasma portion of the blood contain many factors that are essential for the cell recruitment, multiplication and specialization that are required for healing.

When can I see results?

PRP is a long-acting treatment, so you may not see results immediately.

It may take several weeks to months until you feel the full effects of the PRP injection — but why so long?

The platelets and growth factors need time to work, rebuilding essential cells and tissues. They also stimulate your body's healing process, which helps quicken the recovery time, even though it doesn't work overnight.

However, you should see noticeable changes in pain and mobility within a few weeks of the injection, with the results improving over time.
